Hard to believe, but it’s happening! It’s underway! The first leg of our adventure saw us landing at Singapore’s stunning Changi Airport last night after an uneventful 10 hr flight — uneventful except for a midair pillow-fight amongst some of our mad Kiwis.
The Swissotel Merchant Court is on the banks of the picturesque Singapore River – a handy distance from Orchard Road, Clarke Quay, Festival Village and Boat Quay. So, now that we’ve woken and and downed a delicious breakfast, we’re heading off on a Morning Glory Boat Cruise for a two and a half hour introduction to this Asian showplace-city.
Bet you wish you were with us!
Our Kiwis will be doing their own thing this afternoon — with several of the women set on shop-shop-shopping, and several of the men set on a visit to Little India and Chinatown. (Last time we were here we sampled the famous cocktail ‘Singapore Sling’ and peanut-shell-throwing at the Long Bar of Raffles Hotel — so I’m hoping I can lure Robyn away from the pubs and shops in favour of a tropical swim in the magnificent hotel pool.)
Meanwhile, I’m wearing my Team NZ ‘Let’s Bring It Home’ t-shirt — so no-one forgets what the priorities are here!
Tonight, we’re back to the airport for an even longer flight to grand enduring London where pop, pomp and pageantry (and the ‘Marco Polo’) are waiting for us. So stay tuned …
Yours bloggedly – JOHN
Can’t believe you missed the third, totally unbelievable America’s cup race – Yahooooooo – we missed you 🙁 Can’t wait for the next one tomorrow morning. We’re sooo proud of the boys in black – the NZ team, that is – just in case you were wondering whom I meant. (Now that you’re away from here – you may have forgotten – tee hee) Glad to hear all is going great – you are no doubt swanning in the air somewhere as we speak. England here you come.!!
Take care and feel the warm hug coming from us xxx P & R
